Class Levels

Beginners

Introductory Beginner Courses are conducted regularly throughout the year.  These involve a 6 week program where the students are introduced to a series of beginner level poses. Primarily these are the standing poses, forward bends and twists.  All levels of fitness are taken into account with supports used if necessary.  To reserve a space for the next BEGINNER COURSE contact Carmela for starting date.

Beginners - Tree Pose

Level 1

Most students stay at Beginners level for the first year with at least 2 Introductory Courses completed before advancing on to Level 1.  At this level students are learning to hold poses for longer and some of the more complex poses are introduced with support.  Carmela will advise those students when they are ready to progress to this level.

Level 1 & 2

This level requires a minimum of a year of regular class attendance and students will be at a stage where they are starting to establish a home practice.  Poses are penetrated on a deeper level with longer holding times and include inversions like Headstand and Shoulderstand.

Lead Practice

This practice session is available to students with a minimum of one years experience and involves following a structured program of poses.  The names of the poses are called and each student follows the lead.  These sessions are a good opportunity to work more on the inner level as there is generally no detailed instruction or correction given.  Check with the teacher first as to suitability for your level.

Lateral Stretch

One on One

Private one on one lessons are available for people with special needs or for those who wish to enhance their own practice.  These involve one hour sessions with specific poses for the individual needs.  Contact Carmela to arrange time and location to suit.

Assisted Handstand - Addo Mukha Vrksasana

Corporate Yoga

Corporate Yoga is conducted in the work place either before the lunch break or after working hours.  Size of groups range from 10 to 20 people with a set fee for each group depending on size and how many weeks required.  New enquiries are welcome.
